Compassion
MINDFULNESS BASED COMPASSIONATE LIVING COURSE
Mindfulness teaches us to tune in to our present moment experience, whatever that experience might be. It is a particular challenge when that present moment is unpleasant; when we are suffering, experiencing stress, or in physical or emotional pain.
In the Mindfulness Based Compassionate Living program, devised by Erik van den Brink and Frits Koster, we develop our capacity to navigate the stresses of life by learning to cultivate kindness and compassion to ourselves and to others.
This course is suitable for anyone who has done an eight week Mindfulness course, such as the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program or a Breathworks course.
It consists of eight two and a quarter hour sessions, spread over a period of eight weeks
Sessions consist of practices designed to foster compassion to ourselves and to others, practices to help activate our soothing systems, and practices which teach us to deal more wisely with difficulties. Participants are encouraged to share their experience of the practices in group discussions.
There is a small amount of theory, looking at why compassion is so important, the reasons that our tricky brains sometimes have so much difficulty with it, and how developing a compassion practice can benefit us physically, emotionally, and in our relationships.
To get the most out of the course, it is important that participants commit to a regular home practice. Handouts and CD’s/ MP3 files are provided to help support this
Because of the coronavirus situation, I am not currently running any courses. However, I am still working online (see Mindfulness Online)
